Herding!

Picture
Herding with collies is one of my favorite ways to spend time with my dogs. I recommend it to everyone who owns a collie and can get to a herding facility. Sign up for a lesson and see how you like it! It is different from other things you do with your dog in that there is no need to provide food treats--the reward is the herding itself. Your dog has the opportunity to think independently and learns to work with you at the same time. It is a very fun way to strengthen the bond between you and your dog.

We are members of the Pacific Northwest Herding Club!

Below are images from 9/26/14 of Jinx (14 weeks) and Fern (10 weeks) having their first exposure to sheep. Both had a great time and showed promise for future herding endeavors! It is so exciting and rewarding to see the wheels turning in a pup's brain as he or she realizes exactly what is happening.
